2008

Gone were the days where New Year's countdown were spent screaming our lungs out under a sky of fireworks, squashed in between a sea of people right in the middle of town. No more 3 hour long preparations to look good and ready to party before jumping into a car and heading down to town waaaay before the traffic starts picking up. And long gone are the days of RM50 cover charge + one free drink and free access to any clubs around that area.
.
2 years ago, FattyHubby and I spent the New Year's in Singapore, counting down in Orchard Road surrounded by unfamiliar faces of Singaporeans.
Last year, we went to Penang with Gord & Cin, and slept right through countdown =)
.
This year, we had a quiet countdown at ButtercupTjin's house in Klang. Totally different from the pass few New Year's that I've ever been through. And I actually enjoyed it. Just sitting there, having girly chats with BlossomMich and ButtercupTjin, talking about old college times, giggling about everything under the sun, and just...well...enjoying each another's company.
.
It was good. It was one of the best New Year's countdown I've ever had.
.
Damn. I think I finally have to admit to the fact that I've aged. And that I'm STILL aging.
.
I still feel like a young girl though, and I know, sometimes, just sometimes, I'm in self-denial about growing up.
.
Yes, I'm 28 (well, not till June anyways), ladies & gentlemen, and I'm not embarass to admit that. After all, age is only a number and being young is all about the mind and the heart.
.
However, no matter how much I try to deny the fact that I am indeed getting older, I can't help not noticing that everyone around me are growing too.
.
Nieces and nephews are running around and screaming their lungs out now while not too long ago, they were just sleeping peaceful infants in the baby cot.
Grandpa and grandma are begining to look awfully older now and they can hardly walk for long anymore before needing to take a rest.
Even mummy, no matter how much she tries to hide her white crown by going for hair dyes every month, there is no denying the extra lines on her face.
.
I guess, in a way, everyone else is trying to deny the fact that they too are getting older. But that's just how life goes, and there's no way we can ever turn back time.
.
And there's no way that I can ever be 18 again. I'm 28.
.
So, where do I go from here?
.
I guess I already know the answer.
